TL;DR
We help large enterprises cut energy costs and valorize flexibility by steering their energy use in sync with market prices and renewable generation. We're hiring a Product Engineer to build the features and interfaces that enterprise energy teams rely on every day.
You'll work across the stack — from user-facing dashboards to API’s and data pipelines — shipping work that directly impacts customer outcomes. Just as importantly, you'll shape what we build, not just how we build it.
About Companion.energy
Companion.energy sits at the intersection of energy markets and industrial operations. We process real-time market signals and asset telemetry to make automated energy decisions every second — modelling complex contracts, forecasting demand and production, and translating predictions into actions that move megawatts and money.
The engineering problems are genuinely hard: time series at scale, real-time optimisation under uncertainty, and interfaces that make deep complexity manageable for the people who operate the grid's largest consumers.
Our software is used by large B2B enterprises and energy players to lower OPEX, maximize revenue, increase renewable usage, and manage risk.
Why Companion.energy?
- Ship things that matter. The features you build are used by energy managers making million-euro decisions daily. You'll see impact fast.
- Full-stack ownership. From backend services to frontend dashboards — you own what you build end to end.
- Shape the product, not just the code. You'll talk to customers, propose features based on what you learn, and make product calls on the details that don't come with a spec.
- Join early, shape the future. You'll influence the architecture, tooling, and culture of a growing engineering team.
- A mission that matters. Good engineering in energy software accelerates the transition to a flexible, renewable grid.
What you'll work on
- Build and improve dashboards that visualise real-time energy consumption, costs, and flexibility across industrial sites.
- Develop features that help energy managers understand and manage their energy costs
- Ship end-to-end: identify a customer need, prototype a solution, get it into production, and iterate based on feedback.
What we're looking for
- Track record of shipping features end-to-end with a focus on reliability and user experience.
- Strong frontend skills: You're at home building polished, interactive interfaces with React or equivalent. This is where most of your work lives.
- Comfortable in the backend: You can navigate and contribute to backend services in Python — writing APIs, working with data pipelines, or debugging across the stack when needed.
- Product-minded: You don't wait for a spec to fill in the blanks. You talk to users, understand their workflows, and make good product decisions on the details.
- A strong sense of well-designed software: You care about visual quality, clear information hierarchy, and interfaces that feel polished and intentional — not just functional.
- Curious: You're excited about using AI-powered development tools like Cursor and Claude to move faster and write better code. You continuously explore new tools and workflows to improve how you work.
- Pragmatic: You know when to move fast and when to invest in robustness.
- Strong communicator who can collaborate directly with customers and the commercial team.
- Interest in energy systems, time series data, or real-time applications is a plus.
