- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

- Experience in optical or IP network operations.

You will facilitate faster, better, and more efficient, positive outcomes for the business and our customers. Your objective will be to build the world’s most reliable, cost-effective and scalable network to support all of our current and future customers and users globally.
In this role, you will ensure adherence to network-repair Service Level Objectives (SLOs). Perform root-cause analysis on network incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. Identify opportunities for, and contribute to, the development of automation and tooling to improve repair times and reduce manual effort. Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external vendors to manage and resolve network issues. Proactively monitor network health and identify potential risks or performance degradation. You will also participate in incident management.
Google's network provides services to millions of Internet users around the world. Our metros are on the edge of our network where Google connects to its users. The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Operate Google's network reliably and at scale, and act as a first responder for faults and outages on Google's production network.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues across optical transport and IP networking domains to restore service and maintain network health.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues.
- Own network documentation, and update and maintain network designs and plans.
