Job Description
We are seeking a skilled IT Software Engineer with experience in the oil and gas industry to design, develop, and maintain software solutions that support operational efficiency, data management, and digital transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and a solid understanding of industry-specific systems, including real-time data environments and industrial operations.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable software applications supporting upstream, midstream, or downstream operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, and data teams) to deliver integrated technical solutions
- Develop and manage APIs, backend services, and data pipelines for real-time and historical data processing
- Support integration of IT systems with operational technologies (OT), including SCADA and industrial control systems
- Analyze large datasets to improve operational performance, efficiency, and decision-making
- Ensure system reliability, performance optimization, and cybersecurity compliance
- Participate in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving production issues
- Contribute to system architecture design and continuous improvement initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Software Engineer or similar role
- Prior experience working within the oil and gas or energy sector is required
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or similar
- Experience with cloud platforms, databases, and distributed systems
- Familiarity with real-time data systems, automation, or industrial integrations
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Fluent in Dutch& English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SCADA systems, IoT platforms, or industrial data systems
- Knowledge of data engineering, ETL processes, or time-series data management
- Familiarity with industry regulations, safety standards, and operational workflows
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams or field operations
