DevOps & Tools Engineer

The DevOps & Tools team delivers the CI/DE platforms, developer tools, and internal infrastructure that enable efficient software development across the Barcelona R&D organization. With an increasing number of services, repositories, and build environments, we require engineers who can contribute to system reliability, automation, and developer productivity. The DevOps & Tools Engineer plays a central role in implementing improvements to CI/CD pipelines, maintaining developer tooling, supporting on-prem infrastructure, executing lifecycle upgrades, and ensuring cybersecurity compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines and tooling using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
  • Develop and maintain scripts, automation, and internal utilities (Python, Bash, Ansible).
  • Operate and support Linux systems (Ubuntu), participating in patching and OS upgrade cycles.
  • Contribute to repository management within GitHub Enterprise: branch protections, templates, checks, CODEOWNERS.
  • Manage artifacts in Nexus and support retention, traceability, and promotion workflows.
  • Monitor system and pipeline health; resolve issues with guidance when needed. • Participate in incident response and root-cause analysis for CI/DE and tooling services.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Systems, or related engineering fields.
  • Typically 3 years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, CI/CD, automation, or infrastructure operations.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining pipelines, developer tools, or Linux-based systems.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu) system administration fundamentals.
  • Good scripting skills using Python or Bash; familiarity with configuration management tools.
  • Practical experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines at team or project scale.
  • Understanding of Git workflows, pull requests, branch policies, and repo hygiene (GitHub Enterprise preferred).
  • Familiarity with artifact repositories (Nexus) and build/test automation concepts.
