ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a visionary Director of Engineering (Digital Banking & AI) to lead high-stakes technology transformations for our premier banking clients. This is a senior leadership role that requires a rare intersection of deep engineering management, Artificial Intelligence expertise, and cryptocurrency product innovation. As the successful candidate, you will be the chief architect of change—modernizing legacy core banking systems into high-performance digital platforms. You will be responsible for embedding AI throughout the entire product lifecycle and designing secure, compliant digital asset ecosystems that define the next generation of financial services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Engineering Leadership & Digital Transformation

• Platform Vision: Take direct responsibility for shaping and delivering next-generation digital banking platforms that are scalable, modular, and cloud-native.
• Modernization: Drive the complex evolution of legacy banking systems toward API-driven architectures, ensuring zero downtime and high reliability.
• Team Excellence: Lead, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering squads across multiple regions, fostering a culture of technical rigor and innovative problem-solving.

Strategic AI Integration

• Full-Lifecycle AI: Embed AI and Machine Learning into every stage of the product lifecycle—from automated design and build processes to predictive monitoring and automated compliance.
• Advanced ML Applications: Oversee the implementation of anomaly detection, vector embeddings for personalized banking, and AI-driven fraud mitigation.
• Operational Efficiency: Use AI to streamline compliance auditing and internal workflows, reducing technical debt and operational risk.

Crypto & Digital Asset Innovation

• Ecosystem Architecture: Design institutional-grade cryptocurrency products including custody solutions, digital wallets, and tokenization engines.
• Technical Deep-Dive: Lead technical strategy regarding blockchain protocols, Smart Contracts, Multi-Party Computation (MPC), and Hardware Security Modules (HSM).
• Product Journey: Architect seamless customer journeys and UX for crypto-assets, defining service tiers that cater to both retail and high-net-worth institutional clients.

Compliance, Trust, & Privacy

• Privacy Frameworks: Design and implement sophisticated delegation and consent frameworks to ensure maximum privacy protection and user data sovereignty.
• Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all technical builds meet the stringent requirements of multi-jurisdictional regulators (e.g., MAS, HKMA, GDPR) and global compliance standards.
• Trust Engineering: Build security and transparency into the core of every customer-facing service to maintain Techtanium’s reputation for reliability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Strategic Advisory: Act as the technical bridge between product, compliance, and business teams, ensuring technology investments align with commercial objectives.
• External Stakeholders: Manage relationships with external vendors, technology partners, and international financial regulators.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience: 10+ years in engineering leadership, with a significant track record in Fintech, Neobanks, or Digital Banking transformation projects.
• Modernization Expertise: Proven success in migrating legacy banking cores (e.g., AS/400, Mainframes) to modern microservices and API-first ecosystems.
• AI/ML Mastery: Hands-on expertise in AI engineering, specifically in anomaly detection, compliance automation, and large-scale data embeddings.
• Crypto Proficiency: Strong background in blockchain technology, digital asset custody, and the design of regulated crypto-product frameworks.
• Communication: Exceptional ability to articulate complex technical architectures to non-technical stakeholders, C-suite executives, and regulators.
• Global Mindset: Experience operating within multi-jurisdictional financial services, understanding the cultural and regulatory nuances of Asian and international markets.
