Senior Java API Engineer (Integration & Microservices)

At LTIMindtree (LTM), we partner with leading enterprises across Australia to deliver large-scale digital transformation programs, enabling organisations to modernise legacy platforms and adopt cloud-native, API-led architectures.
We are seeking a high-calibre Senior Java API Engineer to join our growing Integration & Microservices practice, working on enterprise-grade platforms across Banking, Insurance, and other complex domains.
The Role:
As a Senior Java API Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing APIs and microservices, enabling seamless integration across complex enterprise ecosystems.
You will work closely with architects, product teams, and stakeholders to build modern API-led platforms, supporting organisations in their journey from legacy systems to cloud-native architectures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot
- Build scalable, resilient, and secure integration solutions across distributed systems
- Contribute to API-led integration strategies, including service decomposition and domain-driven design
- Ensure high-quality code through testing, code reviews, and engineering best practices
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and support DevOps-driven delivery models
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions across cloud environments
- Support legacy modernisation initiatives, enabling transition to microservices and cloud-native platforms
Core Technical Skills:
- Strong experience in Java (8+) and Spring / Spring Boot
- Proven expertise in API development (REST), Swagger, Postman
- Hands-on experience with microservices architecture
- Exposure to frontend technologies (React.js / Node.js / Express.js) – desirable
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of API integration patterns and enterprise integration frameworks
- Experience with containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure)
- Knowledge of event-driven and serverless architectures
- Solid understanding of API security, governance, and best practices
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Exposure to API management platforms and middleware technologies
- Strong capability in solution design, API modelling, and microservices architecture
