Senior Application & Cloud Architect – Modernization of a Corporate Survey Platform

Cronos is looking for a high-caliber Application/Cloud Architect to spearhead the strategic modernization of a large-scale corporate survey platform. This project, known as the "Cloud Optimised Survey Platform," aims to redesign a mission-critical tool used for public consultations and institutional research into a cloud-native, modular architecture.

The Mission

You will define and maintain the target cloud architecture for a platform supporting millions of users. Your role is to ensure the transition from legacy systems to a modular monolith and microservices environment, guaranteeing scalability, high availability, and full open-source distributability.

Your Core Responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership: Define the target cloud architecture and ensure compliance with core architecture principles.
• System Design: Design modular application boundaries, API architectures (OpenAPI), and asynchronous event-driven workflows using Kafka.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Design Kubernetes-based deployment patterns and an Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) approach.
• Security & Compliance: Integrate "Security-by-Design" and "Privacy-by-Design" principles, ensuring full auditability and data lifecycle management.
• Technical Governance: Act as the key technical interface between project managers and development teams, reviewing deliverables and participating in architecture boards.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: At least 6 years in application and cloud architecture, with a minimum of 4 years specifically in Spring Boot and Java-based backend systems.
• Cloud Expertise: At least 3 years designing cloud-native or container-based systems (Kubernetes).
• Technical Stack:
• Expertise in Spring 6 / Spring Boot 3.
• Strong knowledge of REST/OpenAPI and API Gateways.
• Proficiency in relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL).
• Methodology: Solid experience in Agile (SCRUM) and DevOps/CI/CD practices.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional ability to explain complex architectures to both technical and non-technical audiences in English.

Preferred Assets

• Certifications: CKA/CKAD (Kubernetes), Cloud Architecture, or DevOps certifications.
• Languages: Ability to understand or speak French (B1/B2) is a distinct advantage.
• Open Source: Knowledge of open-source licensing (EUPL) and dependency management (SBOM).
