About the role

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Search for noon.com, our largest business, you will be responsible for the infrastructure and reliability of its search – a giant repository of hundreds of millions of products that need to be searched within milliseconds, both via vector as well as traditional (BM25 & the likes) type of queries. You will be responsible for modeling decisions of our indexes, reliability, scaling rps per node and monitoring of our entire search stack.

What you'll do:

• Own what’s running: join our team and take ownership of monitoring, diagnosing and reliability of our search clusters, deeply understand how our apps interact with our clusters and improve both latency & throughput of our search stack
• (Re)Design our search infrastructure for the future: with the impressive scale up of our seller / product base, our systems need to be re-thought to accommodate growth in the orders of magnitude
• Lead a tight-knit focused team: hire, lead and mentor a team whose sole focus is making sure that we could describe noon.com’s search as fast, scalable and unbreakable

What you'll need:

• Expertise: extensive experience (5+ years preferred) in the infrastructure and internals of large-scale search engines (Elasticsearch/Lucene/OpenSearch/Solr).
• Production Focus: Experience working in high-scale, latency-sensitive environments.
• Architectural Ownership: The ability to scale out a large search index bound to grow 10x in the upcoming 24 months
• Platform Mindset: Experience with cloud-native infrastructure (GCP/GKE preferred) and modern observability stacks.
• Leadership: We value Individual Contributors who are ready to maintain a high personal output while stepping into people management, leading & mentoring other members of their team
