Application Specialist
Oslo, Norway
Work with advanced laboratory automation that’s helping improve healthcare, research and scientific discovery. You’ll join a business with a long history of innovation and support customers across the globe with solutions that make complex lab workflows more efficient, reliable and scalable.
In this role, you’ll combine science, software and customer interaction. You’ll work closely with laboratories to understand how they operate, where automation can add value, and how our client's systems can be configured to deliver the best results. That means you’ll build technical depth while also becoming a trusted advisor to customers working in pharmaceuticals, food, diagnostics, cell biology and DNA research.
You’ll also have the chance to lead projects from early discussions through to implementation, training and support. That gives you a varied role with real ownership, strong customer exposure and the opportunity to build specialist expertise in a growing area of laboratory automation.
What you'll do
Understanding customer workflows, assays and challenges will help you identify where automation can make the biggest impact. You’ll design, develop and program liquid handling methods that match customer requirements while meeting internal quality standards.
You’ll test and optimise workflows so they deliver reliable, reproducible results, while also managing project plans and communication to keep implementations on track and customers informed. As your experience grows, you’ll become a key point of contact for more advanced technical support, troubleshooting and workflow improvements.
You’ll also deliver training, demonstrations and workshops that help customers get the most from their systems. Alongside this, you’ll support pre-sales activity with technical input for proof-of-concept work and solution design, while contributing to continuous improvement across tools, workflows and team knowledge.
What you'll need
- A degree in Life Sciences, Physics or Engineering, whether at BSc, MSc, PhD or equivalent level
- A strong understanding of programming principles, with experience in languages such as Python, C or C#. The exact programming language is not the important aspect, but rather your algorithmic thinking ability.
- Experience with method programming, workflow optimisation and troubleshooting for automated liquid handling systems or similar equipment
- Hands-on laboratory experience in life sciences, ideally in molecular biology, cell biology or clinical diagnostics. Or at least a solid understanding of laboratory workflows, sample preparation, assay development and validation.
- Previous experience in a field-based Application Specialist or similar customer-facing technical role would be a strong advantage but not a hard requirement.
- Fluent English, both spoken and written, with Norwegian or any other Scandinavian languages as a plus
- A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel up to 50%
About the company

They supply advanced process measurement technology to customers in the biopharmaceutical, chemical and brewery sectors, as well as pipetting robots used to automate liquid handling across the pharmaceutical, food and research markets. That gives you the chance to work with respected technology in a business that combines scientific innovation with practical real-world impact.
