Overview

This role supports the Digital Communications team by providing both editorial and operational support for web content. The Web Specialist will ensure all digital content is clear, accessible, user-friendly, and aligned with AODA standards and plain language best practices. The role also involves supporting content operations, including content organization, compliance tracking, and performance reporting. It is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, organization skills, and a solid understanding of web content standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with communications advisors and stakeholders to plan, create, edit, and publish web content
  • Ensure all content meets web governance standards, AODA compliance, and accessibility guidelines
  • Review, proofread, and copyedit digital content for clarity and consistency
  • Apply plain language principles to improve readability and user experience
  • Monitor and analyze web performance and provide insights for content optimization
  • Prepare analytics reports using tools such as Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics
  • Coordinate with French Language Services for content translation and publishing
  • Liaise with legal teams on accessibility and compliance matters
  • Track and report on AODA compliance of web content and documents
  • Support operational tasks such as:
    • Creating copy decks
    • Managing content workflows
    • Organizing website assets
    • Tracking documentation
Must-Have Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in web content writing/editing (healthcare or public sector required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Public sector Experience is must
  • Strong editorial skills including proofreading, copyediting, and writing for digital platforms
  • Experience writing accessible web content for diverse audiences
  • Knowledge of plain language and digital content best practices
  • Experience with AODA and accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Experience creating web analytics reports and performance insights
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work across teams

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in content auditing, evaluation, and optimization
  • Ability to translate complex/technical information into clear web content
  • Experience with Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or Drupal CMS
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices
  • Understanding of user experience (UX) and human-centered design
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams
