The Role
As a Junior Cybersecurity Analyst, you’ll support the organization’s cybersecurity operations and play an active role in protecting our systems, data, and people. You’ll assist with incident response while contributing to risk, compliance, and vulnerability management initiatives that support a secure and resilient technology environment.
This role is ideal for an early‑career professional who’s eager to build hands‑on technical skills and gain exposure to enterprise security operations, governance frameworks, and privacy obligations. You’ll work within established security policies and standards while learning best practices and growing your impact over time.
This position reports to the Senior Director of Technology, Cybersecurity & Data Privacy and partners closely with internal stakeholders to support the organization’s broader security and privacy objectives.
- Assist in investigating suspicious activity, phishing attempts, and malware alerts.
- Maintain accurate incident records and documentation.
- Assist with risk assessments, control reviews, and evidence collection.
- Contribute to maintaining risk registers and remediation status reports.
- Assist with access reviews and user account investigations.
- Support endpoint security configuration reviews and compliance checks.
- Help validate logging, alerting, and audit requirements.
- Assist with security documentation, policies, and standards updates.
- Support Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), Threat Risk Assessments (TRAs), and audits by gathering evidence and validating controls.
- Ensure handling of information aligns with privacy and security requirements.
- Support phishing simulation and security awareness training activities.
- Stay current on emerging cyber threats, attack techniques, and defensive controls.
- Actively develop technical and analytical skills through mentorship and training.
Who You Are
- You bring 0–2 years of experience in IT, security operations, or a related technical role.
- You have entry‑level security certifications such as Security+, GSEC, or SC‑900 (or are actively working toward one).
- You have exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- You have familiarity with privacy, risk, or compliance concepts, ideally within regulated or public‑sector environments.
- You have a basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and common threats.
- You have foundational knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls).
- You have a working understanding of operating systems, including Windows and Linux fundamentals.
- You have some familiarity with security tools such as SIEMs, endpoint protection, or vulnerability scanners (an asset, not a requirement).
- You are analytical and approach problems with curiosity and attention to detail.
- You communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- You are comfortable following established procedures and documenting your work accurately.
- You are eager to learn, receptive to coaching, and able to thrive in a structured environment.
- You have post‑secondary education in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline or equivalent practical experience.
The salary range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $75,000 - $95,000.
