About the Opportunity

We’re partnering with a fast-growing Canadian fintech organization that is redefining how small businesses access financing. This is a high-impact opportunity to join a data-driven team where the work you deliver directly supports entrepreneurs across Canada and shapes real business outcomes.

As an Applied Data Scientist, you’ll take ownership of a core production model that drives lending decisions. You’ll work closely with Risk, Data, and Engineering partners in a highly collaborative environment, translating complex data into actionable insights and scalable solutions that power critical business functions.

Your Responsibilities

• You’ll own and evolve a production scoring model, managing the full lifecycle from feature engineering through deployment and monitoring

• You’ll build and maintain scalable feature pipelines using Python and SQL across multiple data sources

• You’ll design and refine decisioning models, combining statistical approaches with rule-based logic

• You’ll develop monitoring frameworks, dashboards, and reporting to support business and executive decision-making

• You’ll collaborate with engineering partners to integrate models into production systems and APIs

• You’ll investigate data and model discrepancies, turning recurring issues into automated solutions

Skills and Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in applied data science or ML engineering with production model ownership

• Strong Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) and SQL skills with experience in data warehouses

• Proven experience in feature engineering and working with complex, real-world datasets

• Strong understanding of model evaluation, validation, and monitoring techniques

• Ability to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Experience in fintech, risk modeling, or credit decisioning is considered an asset
