Workplace IT Security Analyst - to £45,000 - office based 4+ days per week - central London
Job Role
This is a key role supporting the day-to-day security operations -Acting as the first point of contact for security alerts, working with internal teams and third-party providers to detect, investigate, and respond to incidents. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone with some experience who is looking to build a career in cybersecurity within a business-focused IT team.
Responsibilities
- Monitor systems, networks, and endpoints for suspicious activity using security tools
- Triage and investigate alerts, distinguishing between false positives and real threats
- Act as first responder to incidents, performing initial containment and escalation
- Support vulnerability scanning, patching, and risk tracking
- Assist with security governance, audits, and policy implementation
- Contribute to incident response and disaster recovery planning and testing
- Support security awareness initiatives and provide basic user guidance
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Strong interest in cybersecurity
- Basic understanding of security concepts (e.g. phishing, malware, vulnerabilities)
- Knowledge of networking, operating systems, and cloud fundamentals
- Ability to analyse logs and security alerts
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Calm and methodical approach to problem-solving
Desirable
- Exposure to SIEM, endpoint security, or MDR tools
- Awareness of vulnerability management and CVEs
- Familiarity with frameworks such as ISO 27001 or NIST
- Experience working with third-party providers
- Relevant certifications (e.g. Security+, SC-900) or working towards them
