We're not looking for a traditional designer.

Valid is a venture-backed AI advertising agency based in San Francisco. We produce AI-generated performance ads for mobile apps, SaaS, and e-commerce brands — and we're building something bigger.

We're consolidating our AI-powered tools — including Chat with Your Ads, AI Creative Flows, and more — into a single SaaS platform. This is a product that will redefine how brands create and manage AI-driven ad creative at scale.

We need a Design Engineer to own the user experience from concept to code. Not someone who designs in Figma and hands off a file. Someone who designs and builds — who can go from whiteboard sketch to working frontend, using AI coding tools like Claude and Cursor to move at the speed of thought.

What You'll Do

• Own the end-to-end UX/UI for our SaaS platform — from user research and wireframes through high-fidelity design to production-ready frontend code
• Design and build responsive interfaces using React/Next.js and Tailwind CSS, leveraging AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor) for rapid iteration
• Create and maintain a cohesive design system that scales across multiple product modules
• Collaborate directly with engineering and product leadership to translate complex AI workflows into intuitive, elegant user experiences
• Prototype fast, test ideas in the browser, and iterate based on real usage — not just mockups
• Champion design quality across the product: typography, spacing, motion, accessibility, and micro-interactions that make the product feel alive

What We're Looking For

Design Mastery

• 3+ years of product design experience, ideally in SaaS or B2B tools
• Strong portfolio demonstrating systems thinking, information architecture, and visual design craft
• Deep fluency in Figma — you think in components, variants, and design tokens
• An opinionated eye for typography, color, layout, and interaction design

Frontend Capability

• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS/Tailwind, and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Comfort reading, writing, and debugging React components — you don't need to be a senior engineer, but you need to be able to ship UI
• Experience using AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) to accelerate your frontend workflow — this is essential, not a nice-to-have
• Understanding of responsive design, component architecture, and modern frontend patterns

Mindset

• You blur the line between "designer" and "developer" — and you like it that way
• You prototype in code, not just in Figma
• You're comfortable with ambiguity and can make strong design decisions with minimal direction
• You care about craft and details, but you also know when to ship

Nice to Have

• Experience designing for AI-powered products, dashboards, or creative tools
• Familiarity with Next.js, Replit, Vercel, or similar modern deployment platforms
• Motion design skills (Framer Motion, GSAP, Lottie)
• Understanding of SaaS metrics, onboarding flows, and conversion-oriented design
• Contributions to open-source design or frontend projects
