What You’ll Work On

As a Graduate Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development of MK.IO and MK.IO Beam, MediaKind’s next‑generation streaming and video processing solutions:

MK.IO – Live & On‑Demand Streaming at Any Scale

A powerful, self‑service platform used to rapidly build, deploy, and scale live and on‑demand video experiences across any cloud. MK.IO simplifies complex operations and enables customers to deliver premium streaming quickly and efficiently.

MK.IO Beam – Cloud‑Managed On‑Prem Video Workflows

MK.IO Beam brings cloud control to on‑premise environments, enabling broadcasters and streamers to run flexible, scalable contribution, reception, and head‑end workflows using commercial off‑the‑shelf hardware. It supports decoding, transcoding, content replacement, and seamless integration with the MK.IO platform.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain backend services, microservices, and video‑processing components.
  • Contribute to cloud‑native architectures across AWS, Azure, and multi‑cloud environments.
  • Work with senior engineers to build scalable, reliable services used by global customers.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams across Southampton and Rennes.
  • Learn how video encoding, packaging, CDN workflows, and control plane systems all fit together in real‑world streaming environments.
  • As you grow in confidence and capability, you will also take part in an on‑call rota to help support our DevOps team.

Who You Are

We’d love to hear from you if you are:

  • A recent or upcoming graduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Have experiencing using any of the following proramming languages: C++, JavaScript, Node.js, React.js, Python, Bash, Linux OS, and Golang for software development.
  • Curious about complex systems and excited by how video and cloud technologies work.
  • Eager to learn, experiment, iterate, and contribute to high‑value technical projects.
  • Collaborative, positive, and comfortable working in dynamic, fast‑moving teams.
  • Someone who enjoys problem‑solving and is motivated by building real, impactful products.
  • Willing to be part of an on call rota to support our

Location

Southampton City Centre – office based (option to move to hybrid after 12 months). You will need to ensure you live within a commutable distance to the office
