We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented specialist to play a key role in advancing our multi-model forecasting approach. Your work will help ensure robust, precise, and scalable forecasts.

Your main responsibilities are:
- Further develop and enhance UBIMET’s integrated multi-model forecasting approach
- Drive the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of numerical weather prediction (NWP) models
- Optimize and improve forecast quality with a focus on severe weather events such as thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, wind gusts, snowfall, and freezing rain
- Analyze large meteorological datasets and model outputs from various sources, identify patterns and areas for improvement, and translate findings into actionable model improvements
- Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team of meteorologists, data scientists, and software developers
- Process, visualize, and clearly communicate simulation and analysis results
What you need to be successful:
- Master’s degree (or higher) in Meteorology, Physics, Atmospheric Sciences, or a related field
- Hands-on experience in working with and developing meteorological forecasting models
- Strong understanding of numerical weather prediction (NWP) and model evaluation
- Solid programming skills in Python
- Experience working in a Linux environment
- Excellent English skills; German is a plus
- Structured, goal-oriented, and results-driven approach

For legal reasons, we would like to point out that the minimum salary for this position is EUR 2.528,04 gross per month. Significant overpayment is possible, depending on qualifications and experience.
