Postdoc in microbial pangenomic and functional identification

About Aviwell

Aviwell is a deeptech startup with a mission to feed the world more efficiently and sustainably, while respecting natural resources. Aviwell operates at the convergence of digital & life sciences. Our headquarters is in Toulouse and our CEO and business development office is in Boston, USA. We develop processes for the identification and production of natural bacterial communities to improve the growth of farm animals and reduce their feed consumption and waste. Aviwell aims to market these unique products on a global market.

To strengthen its in silico research and innovation department, Aviwell is recruiting a Bioinformatician with strong expertise in microbial genomic data. The successful candidate will lead the development of bioinformatic approaches to better characterize microbial strain diversity and explore the associated functional dark matter. In parallel, the candidate will contribute to the analysis of sequencing data generated by the company and support the continuous improvement of Aviwell’s bioinformatics pipelines. The data analyzed include genomic, metagenomic, transcriptomic, and other sequencing datasets. The candidate will work closely with members of the Aviwell Discovery Platform, which includes bioinformaticians, biostatisticians, and microbiologists. The role also involves interacting with researchers to define sequencing needs and discuss analysis strategies and results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop bioinformatic methods for microbial pangenome analysis and functional characterization of microbial genes
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of Aviwell’s bioinformatics pipelines
  • Analyze and interpret multi-omics sequencing datasets (genomics, metagenomics, transcriptomics, etc.)
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, particularly members of the Aviwell Discovery Platform
  • Participate in discussions with researchers to define sequencing strategies and interpret results
