If you enjoy a job where C++ meets interesting maths and the occasional “why does this code even exist” moment, you’ll probably like this one.
This is a more junior-friendly role with a clear learning curve, proper support, and the chance to work on genuinely complex systems without being expected to know everything on day one.
About the organisation
This is a financial consultancy growing its asset management engineering team. It’s a small, collaborative group working on systems that support real investment decisions. You’ll be joining a team that already has experienced engineers in place, so there’s plenty of opportunity to learn and develop.
What you’ll do
- Work on modernising a quant modelling platform used by portfolio and investment teams
- Contribute to C++ code that powers financial models and analytics
- Learn how large-scale modelling systems are designed and maintained
- Support improvements to tooling, build systems, and overall code quality
- Get exposure to AI tools and how they can be used in engineering workflows
- Ask questions, break things (safely), and figure out how they work
What you need
- Solid foundation in C++ (this could be from university, internships, or early career experience)
- Strong maths skills and an interest in problem solving
- Degree in Maths, Physics, Computer Science, or similar (Master’s is a plus, not a must)
- Curiosity and willingness to learn, especially when things get complex
- Ability to communicate your thinking, even when you’re not 100% sure yet
The practical bits
- Salary: €40-55K depending on experience
- Fully remote within Ireland
- No visa sponsorship
Interview process
- Intro call
- Technical interview (focused on how you think, not just what you know)
- Final chat with the founder
