Project Lead External Manufacturing

About the Role

As a Project Lead in Global External Manufacturing, you will drive high‑impact projects that create business value and ultimately benefit patients. Your focus lies on the design and industrialisation of consumables, ensuring that innovative solutions are efficiently developed, manufactured and delivered.

You will create an environment where your project team can thrive, grow and collaborate towards a shared purpose. Together, you will deliver new product designs and build the corresponding manufacturing lines at external sites — from raw material sourcing to final packaging. You will manage and communicate project progress to stakeholders, effectively balancing scope, timelines and budget.

In this role, you champion a culture of continuous improvement and collaborate cross‑functionally to drive strong results.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Lead and manage one or more product development projects

• Ensure the definition and delivery of project outputs, including product requirements and

specifications, in close alignment with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers

• Identify project risks and issues, conduct impact analyses and guide mitigation activities

• Plan and control project budgets, resources and timelines

• Monitor progress against the project plan and ensure timely, high‑quality delivery of all work

packages, including those from external partners

• Lead and motivate cross‑functional project teams within a matrix organisation

• Build strong and effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and suppliers

Must-Have Qualifications

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Engineering, Natural Sciences or related disciplines (PhD also welcome)

• >5 years of relevant experience in IVD product development and production

engineering

• Strong knowledge of process management methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) and

regulations such as ISO 13485, IVDR, FDA 21 CFR Part 820

• Experience working with external manufacturing partners

• Strategic and systemic thinker with a willingness to explore new ideas and drive change

• Proven leadership capabilities, with a strong track record in getting things done, building

consensus and managing conflict in challenging environments

• Self‑driven, structured and goal‑oriented, with a balanced approach to short‑term mitigation

and long‑term solutions

• Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with stakeholders at all organisational

levels

• Executive presence, resilience under pressure and strong decision‑making skills

• Excellent command of English

• Willingness to travel internationally (10–20%)
