PluvioFlow is a startup building a web-based GIS application for water flow simulation to help communities plan for and manage extreme weather risks. We work with city planners, technical consultants, insurance firms and humanitarian organisations who need to identify flooding risk by running scenarios and helping them evaluate appropriate intervention to protect what matters most.
You’ll be an early hire working close to the CTO and Head of GIS, helping shape product and engineering practices in a purpose-driven company.
We’re hiring a backend developer who can operate comfortably in a DevOps-oriented team—owning backend development while also improving and running cloud deployments, CI/CD, and operational reliability. Our stack includes .NETand Azure, and we also use SolidJS/TypeScript in the product.
- Build and maintain C#/.NET APIs and backend services.
- Make pragmatic architecture decisions: scaling, caching, queuing, performance optimization, and reliability trade-offs.
- Write clean, testable code and raise engineering quality via reviews, testing, and good defaults.
- Improve and own CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines or equivalent) and release processes.
- Work with Azure infrastructure (preferred): deployments, observability, operational tooling, and cost-aware reliability.
- Containerize services with Docker; help mature deployment patterns.
- Work with PostgreSQL (or similar) including schemas, migrations, and safe production changes.
- Collaborate closely with engineering/product to deliver end-to-end improvements.
- C# / .NET: strong experience building APIs and backend services.
- Azure (preferred) or equivalent cloud infrastructure experience.
- System design and performance intuition
- DevOps & CI/CD: Azure Pipelines or similar; understands CD and safe releases.
- Database fundamentals: PostgreSQL (or similar), migrations, schemas.
- Docker.
- Unit testing and practical engineering quality habits.
- Comfortable working in Scrum/Agile environments.
- Kubernetes (AKS or similar) and production operations patterns.
- GIS / geospatial experience, especially PostGIS.
- Proficiency in modern frontend development (e.g. SolidJS or similar frameworks).
- AI as a tool across the dev cycle (building, testing, debugging, analysis, design)
- Familiarity with VLMs / visual language models.
- Fluent in English: Our technical working language is English so you must be fluent in reading, writing and speaking. Swedish is not a strict requirement, but a big plus.
- Passionate: You're driven by a desire to make a positive impact on society and the environment.
- Collaborative: You thrive in team settings and value diverse perspectives.
MOST IMPORTANT: Eager to Learn: Whether you have all the listed skills or not, you're excited to grow and adapt. We know we don’t have all the answers, but we’ll figure them out together!
- Location: Lund (hybrid, 2–3 days in the office per week).
- Start date: As soon as possible.
- Flexibility: We offer a high degree of autonomy with flexible working hours and the option to work remotely when needed.
If you're excited about using your skills to help society navigate climate change risks, we'd love to hear from you.
