Golang Engineer

Location: Bristol - Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Rate: £500 per day inside IR35

Duration: 6 months initially

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled Golang Engineer to join a mobile security-focused engineering team. You will contribute to the development and optimisation of secure, scalable backend services that support mobile applications used across a large financial organisation. The team provides a suite of mobile security components, penetration services, obfuscation capabilities and consultancy designed to ensure a robust security posture across all mobile channels.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop secure, scalable, enterprise-grade applications using Go.
• Optimise and fine-tune backend services to meet demanding non-functional requirements.
• Maintain and troubleshoot secure Go microservices within a complex distributed environment.
• Collaborate closely with engineering squads to strengthen security across mobile applications.
• Contribute to continuous improvement through agile development practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Support containerised deployments across Kubernetes environments using Helm.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Strong experience maintaining and troubleshooting secure Go microservices.
• Proficiency with REST APIs, containerisation, and microservices architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm deployments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities.
• Strong understanding of best coding practices, code management, agile methodologies and continuous delivery.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team or independently.

Desirable

• Background in Java development.
• Familiarity with SQL databases.
• Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace or Splunk.
