The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is an independent statutory office established to protect the rights and interests of adults with impaired decision making capacity, and children and young people in the child protection system and other visitable sites.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the analysis, review, and uplift of OPG's policies and practices to embed the Child Safe Standards and the Universal Principle OPG wide.
- Lead OPG into the introduction of the Reportable Conduct Scheme (commencing 1 July 2026).
- Provide specialist and high-level advice to the Senior Executive to inform OPG's learning and development framework in relation to child safe practice.
- Undertake analysis of organisational design and formulate plans for staff and organisational development relevant to the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024
- Lead OPG's engagement in and representation at relevant interagency forums and working groups.
- Lead a range of initiatives to develop child safe awareness and capability across OPG with a focus on cultural safety and responsiveness.
- Prepare a range of documentation including briefing notes, project reports, correspondence, and other relevant documents.
