This role cannot be performed under a freelancer agreement.
As a UX/UI Designer at krisenchat, you will play a crucial role in shaping our digital products that help children, adolescents, and our counselors in mental health crisis situations.
Your tasks:
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Agile collaboration with psychologists, developers, and designers on the conception of new features.
- Target-Audience Focus: Trauma-informed design of solutions with deep empathy for our young target group and our counselors.
- End-to-End Product Design: Supporting the entire product lifecycle (research, user flows, prototypes, usability tests).
- Design System knowledge: Further development of design standards and maintenance of the Design System (Figma).
- Developer Handoff: Creating clear handoffs (documentation, specifications) for developers.
You are an eager-to-learn, hands-on personality (Willingness to learn and Hands-on mindset) with a Growth Mindset who enjoys working collaboratively in a team.
- A degree in UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, or a similar field and at least 1–2 years in the field (experience in health/mental health/youth is a plus)
- UX Methodologies: Familiarity with research, personas, journey mapping, wireframing.
- UI & Visual Design: Creation of high-fidelity UI designs (layout, typography, consistency).
- Design Tools: Proficient use of Miro, Figma, FigJam, and working with Design Systems.
- End-to-End Design Process: Experience in the entire design cycle (research to handoff) plus basic understanding of technical limitations.
- Versatility: Comfortable switching between UX thinking and UI execution.
- User-Centered Thinking: Decisions based on user needs, insights, and data.
- Communication: Clear presentation of design decisions.
- Collaboration: Team player who values open feedback and knowledge sharing.

krisenchat is a nationwide, free support service for children and young adults in need. We offer children and young people professional psychosocial counseling - every day, 24 hours a day, via web application or WhatsApp. krisenchat has been available 24/7 since May 2020 - since then, our many crisis counselors have been able to help in over 200,000 crisis situations. Since March 1, 2022, krisenchat has also been offering confidential crisis counseling for Ukrainians of all ages, providing support to those particularly affected by the war. In addition to chat counseling, krisenchat now reaches millions of young people every year through psychoeducational content on various social media platforms.
