We are looking for a

UI Designer for our Design System team at Riverty (m/f/d)

Join our team at our location in Berlin - flexible working conditions available - fulltime

At Riverty, we build human-centric fintech products and experiences that enables financial growth. Riverty Design System is a key enabler: it helps teams design and build faster. Our Design System is at a solid stage: accessible, stable, and ready to scale. The next step is making it smarter: clearer guidance, measurable adoption, stronger quality signals, and a system that’s future-proof (including how AI is changing how we design and build). As a UI Designer, you’ll contribute to this next phase.

In this role, you’ll join the Design System team, focused on creating, maintaining, and evolving our Design System. You’ll also collaborate closely with Riverty’s broader design community across UX design, content design, and service design. We operate in a regionally-distributed hybrid setup with an expectation of twice-weekly office presence, along with occasional travel for team meetups or cross-functional workshops. As a UI Designer for the Design System team, you’ll report to the Design lead for the Design System.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, refine, and maintain core components and patterns. Ensuring they’re visually consistent, accessible, and correctly use our design tokens and assets.
  • Maintain and evolve our token and asset libraries in Figma, balancing brand expression with consistency, reliability, and usability.
  • Enable adoption and contribution by actively supporting designers and engineers through guidance, reviews, drop-ins, and shared best practices.
  • Identify and resolve Figma-related issues to keep our libraries reliable and easy to use. Also, ensure alignment between Figma and coded components.
  • Create and maintain clear usage documentation for components, patterns, tokens, and assets. Embedded in our (AI) tools where possible and/or published globally on our Design System website.

You won’t be doing this alone. Senior designers are available for support, feedback, and sparring whenever you need it.

What you’ll bring:

  • 3+ years of UI design experience, with at least 1 year contributing to a Design System at scale (multi-product or platform).
  • Figma mastery: confident designing components (simple and complex), working with variables/tokens, using plugins effectively, and familiarity with Figma Make.
  • A sharp eye for detail: you care about color theory, spacing, typography, responsiveness, and consistency. You notice when things don’t line up (literally and conceptually).
  • Strong documentation skills: you can explain the why behind decisions, write clear guidance, and provide practical examples and do’s and don’ts.
  • Ownership mindset: You proactively pick up tasks, drive them forward, and thrive with a high level of autonomy.
  • Great collaboration skills: you communicate clearly, ask the right questions, and work well with product designers and engineers.
  • A case study that shows how you contributed to a Design System at scale; including your role, the decisions you made, and the reasoning behind them.

We would be especially excited if you have any of the following (but we’re also excited if you’re keen to learn with us):

  • A strong understanding of accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA+).
  • Experience designing animations and micro-interactions that enhance usability and delight.
  • A real passion for branding; translating brand expression into thoughtful, consistent UI.

If you don’t check all these boxes but still feel you'd be a good fit for the role, we encourage you to apply.

Our hiring process has four steps:

  • A first get-to-know-you call with one of our recruiters.
  • An interview with the Design Lead of the Design System.
  • A case study presentation to designers from the Design community.
  • A final conversation with Design System team members.

Please apply by Wednesday, 25 March at the latest. First interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis during the application period.
