Resource Manager

We are seeking an experienced Resource Manager to play a strategic role in shaping how capability, capacity, and talent are deployed across our Commercial Consulting team.

The Resource Manager is accountable for translating business strategy, sales pipeline, and client demand into executable workforce plans. The role balances short‑term delivery needs with longer‑term capability development, ensuring the right expertise is deployed at the right time, at the right cost, and in a way that supports sustainable growth.

Operating in a dynamic, client‑driven environment, the role requires strong strategic judgement, credibility with senior stakeholders, and the ability to make decisive trade‑offs that optimize utilization, project margin, and employee experience.

Role And Responsibilities

Strategic Resource Allocation & Deployment

  • Know your talent pool including numbers, individual skill profiles/interests, group skill gaps/surpluses
  • Own end‑to‑end resource deployment across client delivery, business development, and strategic internal initiatives.
  • Make informed, strategic trade‑offs where demand exceeds supply, prioritizing work based on commercial value, client impact, and long‑term capability goals.
  • Ensure projects are staffed with an optimal skills, grade, and cost mix, aligned to delivery outcomes and profitability targets.
  • Onboard new consultants, educating them on how to effectively work with Resource Management

Workforce Strategy & Planning

  • Translate regional and practice‑level business strategy, sales pipeline, and demand forecasts into forward‑looking workforce and capacity plans.
  • Act as a key contributor to headcount, hiring, and skills planning, providing evidence‑based insight on future capability needs, gaps, and deployment risks.
  • Partner with leadership to shape sustainable workforce models, balancing utilization targets, growth ambitions, and talent health.

Commercial Performance & Utilization Optimization

  • Actively manage and optimize utilization, realization, and margin performance across assigned teams.
  • Identify structural drivers of under‑ or over‑utilization and design interventions that improve long‑term performance, not just short‑term fixes.
  • Partner with finance and leadership to interpret workforce data and provide insight into revenue, cost, and capacity dynamics.

Understanding the Business

  • Apply your knowledge of the professional services industry and how publicly listed consulting firms operate (e.g. business development cycles, project delivery cycles, billable hours, time entry, quarterly reporting etc.) to staffing
  • Leverage business and financial acumen to understand the implications of bill rates, fees, priority work etc.
  • Understand our clients, what they do, what they need and how we are helping them

Talent & Capability Management

  • Maintain a strategic view of consultant skills, experience, career aspirations, and development pathways.
  • Balance immediate client needs with longer‑term capability building and talent sustainability, ensuring fair access to development and stretch opportunities.
  • Surface recurring capability gaps and inform strategic hiring, reskilling, and learning investment decisions.

Data, Governance & Insight

  • Own the integrity and strategic use of resource, capacity, and utilization data across workforce planning systems.
  • Establish consistent forecasting, reporting, and governance rhythms that support leadership decision‑making.
  • Move the function beyond reporting to insight‑led workforce management, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.

People Leadership & Functional Maturity

  • Contribute to the ongoing maturity and evolution of the Resource Management function, embedding best practices and consistent ways of working across teams.

Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years’ experience in resource management, workforce planning, staffing, or deployment roles within a professional services or consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated experience operating at both strategic and executional levels, translating business strategy into workforce outcomes.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a deep understanding of utilisation, margin, and delivery economics.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate complex, ambiguous decision‑making environments.
  • Advanced analytical capability, with experience using workforce and financial data to drive insight and action.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Desirable

  • Experience working with capacity planning, or workforce analytics tools.
  • Exposure to life sciences, healthcare, or other regulated consulting environments.
  • Experience supporting multi‑country or globally distributed delivery teams.
