About Volumental

In a world where product size labels are unreliable, Volumental is the footwear industry's leading FitTech™ company, using 3D scans and a one-of-a-kind, AI-powered recommendation engine to match everyone with the shoes that fit them best.

Our vision is “a world without sizes, where every body fits.” With top brand and retail partners across the world, including New Balance, Red Wing Shoes, Fleet Feet, The Athlete’s Foot, Vivobarefoot and Zellerfeld, our footprint spans 3000+ stores across 60 countries, and growing! To date, we’ve gathered more than 60 million foot scans.

Where you fit in

Right now, you have the opportunity to join our team that builds our next-generation scanning technology, where you will play a central role in shaping both the product and the future of FitTech.

Our solution enables anyone to accurately measure their feet using a smartphone, anywhere in the world. Brands integrate it into their e-commerce websites to help shoppers choose the right size when buying online, and use our 3D reconstructions to produce custom-made footwear. So far, more than 800,000 shoppers have been scanned using our product.

This position is based out of our Stockholm office.

About Your Team

We are working in highly empowered, cross-functional teams with ownership of the entire product development lifecycle. We value collaboration, creativity, a passion for innovation, and compassion for each other, in an inclusive environment where everyone's ideas are heard and respected. Every team member has strong agency and takes responsibility for the product as a whole, not just their own part of it.

If you like being part of the early stages of product development and working alongside technically skilled and motivated colleagues, this is your opportunity.

We believe the tools you use are just a means to an end. But we bet you’re still wondering what our current stack looks like, so here it is:

  • Golang for backend and microservices.
  • TypeScript for backend and frontend.
  • React and Tailwind for frontend.
  • PostgreSQL and BigQuery as data stores.
  • Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes and Helm for our infrastructure.
  • The development environment of your choice, and whatever tooling makes you productive.

All the product development happens within the team, from design, UX research and data insights, to the computer vision, backend and frontend development. You will be one of two backend engineers in our team designing and building systems to scale and bring our mobile scanning technology into the hands of our users. It could mean anything from creating an elegant web SDK for e-commerce websites to designing and building customer portals for self-service data insights. You will also be working closely with our designers and frontend engineers on the mobile scanning experience itself.

We are excited about you because you are:

  • A self-motivated and collaborative team member.
  • Curious and passionate about solving challenging problems.
  • Open to teaching others and learning new things.
  • Keen to work in a caring scale-up environment.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has worked 3+ years professionally with back-end web development.
  • Has strong collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
  • Is a self-starter who can independently manage initiatives and drive them forward.
  • Has a degree in Computer Science or similar field, or have gained comparable knowledge other ways.

As a bonus, let us know if you have experience with:

  • Working with authentication frameworks like BetterAuth and OAuth.
  • Working with Google Cloud Platform and modern infrastructure.
  • Setting up and building micro-services in Golang, as well as API design.
  • Building frontend applications with React and TypeScript.

What we can offer you:

  • Personal learning budget and access to coaching
  • Opportunity to work with a great team of 15+ nationalities in our English-speaking office
  • Occupational pension at ITP1 level
  • Flexible Public Holidays Policy
  • Options Program
  • Parental pay top-up
  • Wellness allowance
  • Dog-friendly office
  • Flexible work policy (at least 3 days a week from our Stockholm office)

The annual compensation range for this role in Stockholm is 660,000 to 888,000 SEK. Actual compensation will depend on level, experience, and skillset as assessed in the interview process.

We look forward to hearing from you!
