Purpose of the Job To deliver outstanding user experiences and simplify complex processes across the bank’s products and services, while contributing to scalable, consistent, and accessible design solutions that support long-term product and business goals.
Responsibilities of the Job - User Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth user research, including interviews and usability testing, to understand the needs and pain points of banking customers. Analyze user feedback and data to identify opportunities for simplifying complex processes and enhancing usability.
- Information architecture and navigation: Organize and structure content and information and create intuitive user flows to streamline complex processes and guide users through various tasks.
- Wireframing and prototyping: Create low-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes to visualize and iterate on interface designs. Test prototypes with users to validate design assumptions and gather feedback for iterative improvements.
- Interaction and interface design: Design intuitive and user-friendly interactions, such as buttons, forms, menus, and other interface elements and define interaction patterns and behaviors to guide user interactions and enhance usability.
- Product Thinking & Impact: Contribute to defining problem spaces, shaping solutions, and prioritising work together with product and tech, ensuring design decisions balance user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.
- Usability testing: Plan, conduct and analyze usability tests to evaluate the effectiveness of design solutions and identify issues and opportunities for improvement based on user feedback and testing results.
- Collaborative Approach: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, digital analysts and other key stakeholders in the bank to gather requirements, provide input, and deliver high-quality design solutions that meets project goals and deadlines.
- Design System & Scalability: Contribute to and leverage the design system to create scalable, consistent, and efficient solutions. Ensure patterns, components, and flows are reused and improved over time.
- Accessibility: Ensure that all design solutions meet accessibility standards and guidelines, contributing to inclusive experiences and supporting the bank’s accessibility commitments.
- Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and AI-driven capabilities. Share knowledge and insights with the team to drive continuous improvement.
- Ambassador: Be a key member and part of growing UX team at Ikano Bank. Share ideas and take initiative to shape ways of working and best practices in our discipline and writing community.
Experience/Demonstrated Competencies Minimum 5 years of experience working as a UX designer or in a related role, with a strong portfolio showcasing UX/UI design projects and outcomes.
Language Competencies Fluency in English
Knowledge required - Able to fully comprehend user-centred design principles and methods to contribute to the creation of cohesive, accessible solutions and collaborate effectively with other designers, writers and researchers.
- Expertise in using design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar software to create wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs.
- Proven knowledge of usability testing and conducting user tests to ensure that all design meets the users needs and preferences.
- Solid understanding of accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG) and how to apply them in design
- Knowledge around design systems to ensure that you can effectively contribute to the creation and continual improvement of products and solutions.
- Awareness and practical understanding of how AI tools and emerging technologies can support and enhance UX design processes, including research, ideation, prototyping, and content creation.
- Understanding of digital analytics, user behaviour data, and experimentation (A/B testing) to inform and evaluate design decisions.
- Familiarity with agile frameworks such as SAFe to be able to adapt to changing requirements and being part of a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Able to conduct comprehensive user research using a variety of methods, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to gather valuable insights into user behaviours and preferences.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data from usability tests and user feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and iterate on design solutions accordingly.
- Able to develop and maintain organized design documentation, including design specifications, guidelines, and assets, to facilitate collaboration and ensure design consistency.
- Ability to communicate design ideas and concepts effectively to stakeholders through clear and persuasive presentations and documentation.
- Demonstrates skills related to creating wireframes and prototypes to visualize and iterate on design concepts, ensuring alignment with user requirements and business goals.
- Comfortable working in early stages with limited requirements, using sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore solutions and align stakeholders.
- Clear demonstrable experience of applying visual design principles such as layout, typography, and color theory to create visually appealing and cohesive designs.
- Ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and marketers, to ensure a cohesive and user-centered approach to product development.
- Capable of teaching others about the UX field to contribute to a more user-centric culture in the bank and its digital transformation.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely with product, tech, and business stakeholders
- Proactive and solution-oriented, comfortable taking ownership and driving work forward in a fast-changing environment
- Curiosity for continuous improvement, including exploring new ways of working and emerging technologies such as AI
