Front End Developer – Online Banking (Contract)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Front-End Developer to join an Online Banking team, supporting multiple initiatives across the bank’s digital channels. This role focuses on building and enhancing customer‑facing online banking experiences, working closely within an agile delivery team that includes product owners, business analysts, UX, and middleware (API) teams.

Initiatives you will support

• Online Banking platform enhancements
• Core banking migration initiatives
• AML and regulatory compliance programs
• Click‑to‑Pay and other digital payment initiatives

Team & Environment

• Part of a front‑end scrum team working alongside middleware (Java / Spring Boot) teams
• Front‑end specialists only – no Java or backend development required but always nice to have
• The team work within a full agile delivery environment
• Strong emphasis on collaboration, communication, and delivery quality

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain front‑end components
• Build responsive, user‑friendly interfaces using Vue.js (primary)
• Collaborate closely with UX designers, product owners, BSAs, and backend/middleware teams
• Participate in daily stand‑ups, sprint ceremonies, and agile delivery activities
• Implement requirements from well‑defined user stories (requirements gathering is handled upstream)
• Support multiple initiatives, including regulatory, AML, and core banking‑related programs
• Ensure code quality, performance, and maintainability through debugging and problem‑solving.

How You Will Succeed

• Design & Development - Define and extend the technical architecture for online application front-ends using Vue.js and Ember.js JavaScript framework. Your skills will be leveraged to develop single page applications such as online banking services, application forms, online calculators, and financial planning tools.
• Continuous Improvement & Collaboration - Share your best practices and coding knowledge at all times to help enhance existing processes and technologies, improving documentation, maximizing learning on the team, and encouraging process optimization.
• Project Delivery & Documentation - Assist your team members with technical documentation creation and ensure compliance with banks standards, best practices, web accessibility requirements, and security protocols. Wherever necessary, present project status updates to senior management and other team members and ensure project timelines are being met

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of professional front‑end development experience
• Strong hands‑on experience with Vue.js
• Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, and core front‑end fundamentals
• Experience working closely with UX teams
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within cross‑functional teams
• Comfortable working in an agile / scrum environment.

Nice to Have

• React experience (future roadmap; not required for immediate project but definitely nice to have)
• Exposure to React Native
• Prior banking or enterprise experience will be advantageous.
