Job Title: Web Specialist - Intermediate
Location: Toronto, ON Onsite
Rate: CAD $45-$50/hr.
We are seeking an experienced Web Specialist with a strong background in digital content creation, editing, and optimization. The ideal candidate will have expertise in writing accessible, user-focused web content and a solid understanding of digital content best practices, particularly within healthcare or public sector environments.
Must-Have Qualifications- 3-5 years of experience in online copywriting and editing, preferably in healthcare or the public sector
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Exceptional editorial skills, including proofreading, copy-editing, and writing for diverse audiences
- Strong knowledge of digital content best practices and plain language writing
- Collaborate with communications teams and stakeholders to plan, create, edit, and publish clear and user-friendly web content
- Ensure all content adheres to web governance standards, accessibility requirements, and relevant regulations
- Review, edit, and proofread website content for clarity, consistency, and accuracy
- Promote clear and accessible writing standards across digital platforms
- Monitor and analyze website content performance and recommend improvements
- Coordinate translation requirements and ensure multilingual content is published as needed
- Work with internal teams to ensure compliance with accessibility standards and related policies
- Track and report on accessibility compliance for web content and documents
- Support content operations, including documentation, reporting, asset organization, and workflow coordination
- Experience writing and editing web content in healthcare or public sector environments
- Strong ability to simplify complex or technical information into clear, user-friendly content
- Experience conducting content audits and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and accessible content practices
- Experience with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics and/or Adobe Analytics
- Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager, Drupal)
- Understanding of SEO best practices for digital content
- Knowledge of user experience principles and human-centered design
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams (designers, developers, subject matter experts)
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to derive insights from data
- Experience in web content writing/editing (healthcare/public sector preferred)
- Educational background in a relevant field
- Proficiency in digital content best practices and plain language writing
- Experience in content auditing and optimization
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and compliance
- Collaboration and communication skills
- Experience with analytics and performance reporting
- Familiarity with CMS platforms
