Position Summary

League is seeking a Software Engineer with a strong iOS foundation who is also comfortable working across the stack and leveraging AI as a core part of their development workflow.

In this role, you will primarily build and evolve native iOS experiences, while also contributing to backend services, APIs, and platform tooling that power those experiences. You will work within a cross-functional team and take ownership of complex features from design through delivery and iteration.

This is not a traditional iOS-only role, we are looking for engineers who think in systems, not just platforms, and who use AI to accelerate development, improve quality, and scale their impact.

In this role, you will:

iOS Development (Core Focus)

  • Build, test, and maintain native iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI
  • Design scalable, maintainable mobile architectures (e.g., CLEAN or similar patterns)
  • Deliver high-quality user experiences in collaboration with design and product teams
  • Continuously improve performance, reliability, and maintainability of mobile features

Multi-Stack Engineering

  • Contribute beyond mobile to:
    • Backend services and APIs
    • Platform tooling and shared systems
  • Collaborate closely with backend, web, and platform engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions
  • Understand how mobile applications integrate into broader system architecture
AI-Native Development (Core Competency)

  • Leverage AI tools (e.g., Copilot, GPT-based systems, Cursor) to:
    • Accelerate feature development and reduce boilerplate
    • Improve testing, debugging, and refactoring workflows
    • Explore system design approaches and tradeoffs
  • Integrate AI into your daily development workflow, not just occasional use
  • Maintain strong ownership and judgment over AI-generated outputs
  • Contribute to evolving team practices around AI-assisted engineering
Engineering Excellence

  • Write clean, maintainable code with strong automated test coverage
  • Perform code reviews and help define team-wide best practices
  • Participate in technical design discussions and architecture planning
  • Monitor and improve application performance and reliability

CI/CD, Release & Platform Awareness

  • Work with CI/CD tools to support mobile builds, testing, and releases
  • Collaborate with platform and release engineering teams to improve developer workflows
  • Contribute to improving build performance and release reliability

About you:

Core Experience

  • Strong experience building native iOS applications (Swift, SwiftUI)
  • Solid understanding of mobile architecture patterns and best practices
  • Experience working in cross-functional product teams
  • Ability to own features end-to-end, from design to production

Multi-Stack Mindset

  • Experience or interest in working across:
    • Backend systems
    • APIs
    • Platform tooling
  • Ability to think beyond mobile and understand system-level tradeoffs
AI-Native Capability (Required)

  • Actively uses AI tools in development workflows
  • Demonstrates ability to:
    • Improve productivity using AI
    • Critically evaluate AI-generated code
    • Apply AI in a practical, responsible way
  • Curious and proactive about adopting new AI capabilities
Nice to Have

  • Experience with:
    • CI/CD systems and mobile release pipelines
    • Backend development (e.g., Go, Kotlin, Java, Python)
    • Cloud platforms (GCP preferred)

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for base salaries for the position across all Canadian locations. The salary range is intentional to account for the performance and career progressions a Leaguer will experience in the role throughout their time at League. Where in the band you may land is determined by job-related skills/experience. $106,000—$117,800 CAD

Work Location:

We have a mix of office-centric roles based in our vibrant Toronto office, and remote-eligible roles based anywhere in Canada or US. Each job posting will indicate where the role will be based. Regardless of the role's posted location, all Toronto-area Leaguers (living within 65 km of our downtown HQ) collaborate in-office Monday through Thursday. Depending on your distance to the office, you'll enjoy 10 or 20 Flexible Remote Days each quarter for focus and deep-work time.
