Job Summary
Under the direction of the UX Engineer, the Web Developer supports the development, maintenance, and continual improvement of the College’s primary website and related digital environments. This role provides day-to-day web support for campus departments and contributes to larger development projects within the WordPress-based ecosystem and other front-end frameworks as needed.
Working within the Marketing Department, the Web Developer will be required to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects while remaining adaptable to shifting priorities. Success in this role requires attention to detail, solid documentation habits, clear communication, a passion for problem-solving, and a systems-thinking approach to understanding how individual code decisions influence the broader web ecosystem.
This position will require being onsite at Schoolcraft College (Livonia, Michigan) for in-person collaboration, team meetings, and access to on-site programs and equipment.

Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in computer science, web development, UX, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of related/professional experience.
- Three (3) years of overall IT experience.
- Experience working with custom-built WordPress themes.
- Understanding of how to create and maintain web documentation where appropriate.
- Ability to perform minor graphics editing (cropping, resizing) for web use.
- Experience with WP Engine hosting.
- Working knowledge of PHP , JavaScript, and SASS .
- Familiarity with Google Analytics and other analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of UX research and design principles.
