Mid-Level Network Administrator
Duration: Contract to hire
Location: Onsite near East Rutherford
Salary upon conversion: 82-100k
We are seeking a Mid-Level Network Administrator to support and maintain our organization’s network infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone with strong hands-on experience in networking, security, and systems support, who is comfortable working primarily in an on-premises environment with limited cloud exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems
- Administer and support Cisco networking equipment, including switches, firewalls, and Cisco ISE (NAC)
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot outages, and perform upgrades, patches, and maintenance
- Configure and support LAN/WAN environments, VPNs, and core network services (DNS, DHCP, Active Directory)
- Work with load balancers and web application firewalls (Fortinet experience or conceptual understanding required)
- Participate in network design, deployment, and configuration initiatives
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and change management records
- Implement and enforce security policies; respond to incidents using tools such as Forcepoint, CrowdStrike, and others
- Provide support for server environments and limited cloud infrastructure (Microsoft 365, Azure – minimal focus)
- Deliver Windows desktop and server support as needed (approximately 15–20% helpdesk support; initial onboarding may include helpdesk responsibilities)
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support (monthly basis)
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–5+ years of network administration experience
- Strong knowledge of routing and switching (VLANs, SDLAN, segmentation, trunking, core channels, micro-segmentation)
- Hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies and Fortinet firewalls
- Understanding of LAN/WAN, VPNs, and wireless networking
- Experience with network security tools (e.g., Forcepoint, Secure Access, Globalscape, CrowdStrike)
- Familiarity with Windows Server/Desktop environments; Linux and macOS experience is a plus
- Exposure to virtualization technologies
- Experience with network monitoring tools (or ability to implement them)
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA or CCNP are a plus
Additional Information
- This role is primarily on-premises (approx. 98%) with limited cloud involvement
- Not a cloud-focused position
- Opportunity to grow from helpdesk exposure into a broader network/server role
