Senior Network Engineer

Location: Guildford

Salary: £60,000 - £65,000

Eligibility: Must be eligible for SC Clearance

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering engineering excellence across one or more technology domains. You will provide deep technical expertise, drive continuous improvement, and ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and support of complex, enterprise-grade network solutions
• Take ownership of technical deliverables, ensuring quality, performance, and alignment with architectural standards
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, supporting their growth and development
• Collaborate with architects, principal engineers, and stakeholders to align engineering outputs with strategic goals
• Represent engineering in cross-functional discussions, influencing decisions and driving alignment
• Contribute to technology roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with security, performance, and operational standards
• Proactively identify and mitigate risks across engineering deliverables and live services

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience working with large-scale, multi-site enterprise networks across LAN, WAN, data centre, and hybrid/cloud environments
• Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols including BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, and EVPN
• Experience with wireless networking and network authentication protocols (e.g. 802.1X)
• Hands-on experience with enterprise networking technologies (e.g. Cisco Catalyst/Nexus/WLC, Meraki, Palo Alto, Dell)
• Familiarity with network seurity solutions including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and network access control
• Experience with software-defined networking and virtualisation technologies such as VMware NSX-T
• Exposure to network automation and working alongside development or DevOps teams

Qualifications

• Cisco CCNP certification or equivalent industry experience
