As a Backend Developer, you contribute to the “behind the scenes magic” of the Hysopt product suite on a daily basis. You help transform complex physical HVAC concepts and mathematical models into high-performance, scalable software that engineers rely on to design better systems.

Hysopt is a rapidly growing SaaS company originating from the University of Antwerp. We develop physics-based HVAC engineering software that helps engineers design, analyse and optimise complex hydronic systems with confidence.
Our cloud platform enables better-informed design decisions, improved system performance and a smoother transition towards low-carbon building systems. By replacing rule-of-thumb calculations with accurate simulation, we support HVAC professionals in delivering efficient, reliable and future-proof solutions.

As a Backend Developer, you contribute to the “behind the scenes magic” of the Hysopt product suite on a daily basis. You help transform complex physical HVAC concepts and mathematical models into high-performance, scalable software that engineers rely on to design better systems.
This Is What Your Week Looks Like
- You use modern technologies like Java, Spring Boot, and popular Java libraries
- You develop API’s, business logic and algorithms in the heart of our software
- You become a part of an experienced R&D team which is responsible for the full software development lifecycle, including implementation, architecture, devops, testing, requirements and maintenance
- Master in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent, with at least 3 years experience in Java backend development
- Affinity with physics and/or mathematics, and interested in understanding the hydraulic and thermodynamic behavior of heating and cooling systems
- Experience with the total lifecycle of software development, or eager in making it your own
- Knowledge of the following technologies is an advantage: Java, Spring, Hibernate, Lombok, Mapstruct, Feign, OpenApi, MySql, Maven, Gradle, Intellij products, Amazon AWS and all its services, Docker containers, Atlassian products and OAuth 2.0
- Experience with Scrum or Agile development methodologies
- Fluent in English, Dutch is a plus
