FREELANCE CISO - Information Security Leadership - SaaS Scale-up [Rotterdam]

Are you looking for a senior interim role where you take full ownership of the information security strategy within a fast-growing SaaS organization (2,000+ employees)? An environment where security enables innovation, without compromising customers, data, and reputation? As interim CISO you report directly to the CFO, are involved in M&A activities, sit on the IT Governance Board, and advise the Executive Committee. You lead a team of 3 security professionals and play a key role in making the security organization future-proof at scale.

Your profile:

You are a senior security leader who combines strategic vision with hands-on execution. You translate business objectives into robust, scalable security programmes and navigate effectively within both formal and informal structures. You lead for tomorrow: connecting people, creating urgency, and driving change.

Furthermore:

• Demonstrable experience as CISO or senior security leader within SaaS and CloudOps environments (1,000+ employees)
• Deep expertise in information security, cloud security, risk management, compliance (ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR), and third-party risk
• Experience with audits (ISAE 3402, ISO 27001), incident response, and crisis management
• Ability to translate technical risks into clear business impact and formulate measurable KPIs
• Relevant certifications: CISSP, CISM, CIPP/E, CCSP, or CRISC
• Strong leadership experience: building and scaling security teams, driving security transformation across the organization

Project:

• Interim assignment for 3-6months with focus to extension
• Start asap, later start date negotiable
• Hourly rate 125 p/hr
