About this role:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead and coordinate delivery for a bespoke insurance claims application, working closely with Zurich business and project stakeholders, who own the business processes.

The TPM will be responsible for requirements planning and governance, translation of business needs into delivery-ready artifacts (user stories and acceptance criteria), cross-team coordination, and end-to-end execution oversight. The role requires strong technical acumen, project management discipline, and fluency in German for day-to-day business interactions with Zurich stakeho.

Key Responsibilities:

Project & Delivery Management

  • Own end-to-end project execution for assigned modules/features, ensuring scope, schedule, quality, and dependencies are actively managed.
  • Define and maintain project plans, sprint/release schedules, milestones, and delivery trackers aligned with Zurich PMO expectations.
  • Track progress against plan; identify slippage early and implement recovery and mitigation actions.
  • Coordinate across multiple agile squads (engineering, QA, DevOps, data) to ensure synchronized delivery.

Requirements & Scope Governance:

  • Lead requirements engineering activities in collaboration with Zurich business stakeholders (process owners).
  • Analyze and document business and functional requirements, assumptions, constraints, and dependencies.
  • Convert business requirements into well-structured epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria that are ready for development and testing.
  • Ensure scope clarity and traceability from business requirement → user story → acceptance → delivery.
  • Manage requirements changes, assess impact on scope/timeline, and drive formal approvals.

Stakeholder & Client Liaison (German / English):

  • Act as the primary day-to-day interface between Zurich business stakeholders and internal technical teams.
  • Facilitate German-language workshops, backlog walkthroughs, requirement clarifications, sprint reviews, and UAT discussions.
  • Prepare and share clear status updates, risks, decisions, and dependencies with Zurich PMs and stakeholders.
  • Handle escalations and alignment discussions in a structured and professional manner.

Agile Execution & Team Enablement

  • Drive Agile/Scrum ceremonies: backlog grooming, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and release readiness.
  • Ensure stories meet Definition of Ready (DoR) and acceptance criteria support Definition of Done (DoD).
  • Work closely with engineering leads to clarify technical feasibility, sequencing, and dependencies.
  • Partner with QA to ensure test scenarios align with acceptance criteria and business intent.

Technical Coordination

  • Possess sufficient technical depth to understand and discuss:
  • API-based integrations, microservices, and data flows
  • Non-functional requirements (performance, security, availability)
  • Environment readiness, deployment dependencies, and release sequencing
  • Review solution designs and technical proposals for alignment with business intent and delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate with DevOps and platform teams to support smooth releases and defect-free deployments.

Risk, Issue & Dependency Management

  • Maintain active RAID logs for requirements, technical, and delivery risks.
  • Identify cross-system dependencies (policy admin, billing, payments, document management, fraud/analytics).
  • Drive issue resolution and RCA for delivery or requirement-related defects.

UAT & Go-Live Support

  • Plan and coordinate UAT readiness with Zurich stakeholders.
  • Support UAT execution, defect triage, prioritization, and business sign-off (often in German).
  • Ensure requirements sign-off, documentation completeness, and readiness for production deployment.
  • Support transition to run/hyper care with proper handover artifacts.

Required Qualifications

  • 8–12 years of overall experience in IT delivery, with 5+ years as a Technical Project Manager / Technical Delivery Manager.
  • Strong background in insurance domain, preferably claims systems (FNOL, assessment, reserves, payments, recoveries, fraud).
  • Fluent German (B2/C1 or higher) for business interactions; excellent English communication skills.
  • Proven experience in:
  • Managing requirements-to-delivery lifecycle
  • Translating business needs into technical backlog items
  • Coordinating across distributed agile teams
  • Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery models and SDLC.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, and delivery tracking dashboards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
