As a Global API Product Manager at If, you’ll be at the heart of our digital transformation, driving and enabling new business opportunities and great customer experiences through APIs, IAM and AI.

About The Role

As our new Global API Product Manager, you will be the main business responsible for processes and technologies for API Products across our business areas and countries.

You get to collaborate with professionals in business and IT organizations to ensure that the business gets the API Products and related services needed. Providing guidance on best practices to internal and external teams, that are to expose or consume APIs, will be part of your daily work.

Your role is central to cross‑functional initiatives, delivering new API Products and related capabilities, and promoting API‑first thinking across the organization. You’ll also be seen as a forerunner in understanding AI Agents, and how APIs/MCPs, IAM, data and tooling shape the way AI solutions are built and scaled.

You’ll join Digital Sales and Customer Experience, within Business Area Private, focusing on digital enablers for transformation. You are an experienced product manager at heart, that can apply product management principles and thinking to products, processes or new technologies. You are a natural leader that thrives in the intersection between business and IT, building trust across stakeholder groups. You are curious and not afraid to roll up your sleeves to drive change in a structured and result-oriented manner.

As our new Global API Product Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Strategy & Product Leadership
    • Own the business strategy for API Products in If and align it with other relevant strategies. Collaborate with representatives in Private, Commercial and Industrial and IT to align with their strategies
    • Manage the API product portfolio in collaboration with API Product Managers
    • Prepare for and shape If’s position on Open Insurance and upcoming regulations
    • Prepare for AI agents and participate in related strategies and product development.
  • Governance, Processes & Compliance
    • Own processes, tools, and governance mechanisms for developing and managing API products
    • Ensure alignment across API, IAM, AI, security, legal, and regulatory compliance
  • Platform, Developer Experience & AI Enablement
    • Own the developer portal experience, including APIs, MCPs, and AI agent interfaces and related flows
    • Define end‑to‑end patterns for how APIs, MCPs, and AI agents work together
    • Act as business owner for developer enablement, including standards for API and AI agent consumption
  • Enablement & Adoption
    • Guide and support teams producing or consuming APIs across the organization
    • Drive organizational learning and adoption through training and communication

You Also Have:

  • Experience with formal or informal leadership in an agile, user-centric and iterative environment; servant leadership and the ability to empower teams and scale ways of working
  • Solid experience in Product Management, in the nexus between business and IT
  • Knowledge of API Products, API Architecture and API Security
  • Understanding of AI applications, AI agents and their integration with APIs
  • Experience working in complex organizational and technical setups
  • Ability to easily build relations and trust in stakeholder groups across business and technical functions
  • Strong drive and a structured and result-oriented way of working
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to drive change
  • Strong drive and a structured, result-oriented approach
  • Fluent in English (written and oral). Nordic language skills are a plus
  • Solid educational background, in either technology or business, higher education degree
