Key Responsibilities
- Provide L2 support for Linux servers, AWS services, and related infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, service requests, and escalations from L1 support.
- Monitor system performance, logs, and alerts to proactively identify issues.
- Perform routine administration tasks: user management, patching, log rotation, backup checks, etc.
- Support and maintain AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, CloudWatch, VPC, and Security Groups.
- Work with configuration management and deployment tools (Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, etc.) when required.
- Collaborate with L3 engineering teams for problem resolution and RCA (Root Cause Analysis).
- Ensure adherence to ITIL processes (incident, change, problem management).
- Maintain documentation, knowledge base articles, and runbooks for repeated issues.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide support during planned/unplanned outages.
- Ensure security compliance and implement best practices across Linux and AWS environments.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–4 years of experience in Linux system administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud services (compute, storage, networking, IAM).
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Good knowledge of shell scripting (Bash/Python) for automation.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls, load balancers).
- Understanding of backup, disaster recovery, and high availability concepts.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with business users, L1 teams, and vendors.
Good to Have (Preferred Skills)
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator / Solutions Architect – Associate.
- Exposure to DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Jenkins).
- Experience with ticketing systems like ServiceNow, JIRA, or Remedy.
- Basic knowledge of databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- Experience in incident management in production environments.
