Engineering Manager – Onboarding & Compliance | Hybrid | Porto

We are partnering with a fast-growing compant in Porto to hire an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing backend engineering team focused on customer onboarding and verification.

The Role

You'll lead and inspire a team of backend engineers, shaping the systems that power how customers are onboarded and verified across Europe. You'll be responsible for delivering high-impact features that enable seamless yet compliant onboarding experiences — balancing security, usability, and automation. Working closely with Product, Compliance, and Engineering stakeholders, you'll help your team navigate complex challenges while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

What we're looking for:

• 1–3 years experience managing engineers, including coaching and performance management
• 5+ years hands-on backend engineering experience, ideally with Java, Kotlin, or similar technologies
• Experience in systems design, particularly in high-throughput, secure, or regulated environments
• Familiarity with automation-first development principles
• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical trade-offs to diverse audiences
• Comfortable with Agile methodologies in fast-paced, high-stakes environments

Salary: Competitive Location: Hybrid – 2 days per week in office, Porto
