Senior Java Developer

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in need of a Senior Java Developer in Jersey City, NJ. Responsibilities:

• Act as a senior individual contributor on complex software initiatives, collaborating with engineering, architecture, QA, and operations teams
• Design, develop, and enhance enterprise Java applications that meet functional and non-functional requirements
• Analyze and reverse-engineer legacy systems to identify defects, performance issues, and technical debt; implement sustainable solutions
• Provide production support, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis across application and infrastructure layers
• Support deployments and runtime stability in AWS and containerized environments
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and deliver independently while meeting sprint commitments
  
  

Requirements

• 10+ years of enterprise Java development experience supporting large, distributed systems
• Strong expertise in legacy system support, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and modernization
• Proficient in Core Java, messaging/integration technologies, and relational databases
• Hands-on experience with AWS, containerized platforms, and CI/CD pipelines
• Deep understanding of scalable, highly available, and resilient enterprise architectures
• Advanced Linux/Unix skills, including shell scripting; DevOps experience a plus
• Agile experience with strong ownership, communication, and cross-team collaboration
• Financial services experience in regulated, mission-critical environments a plus
  
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
