About The Role

We are seeking a talented Frontend Developer with expertise in React and Redux to join our dynamic, remote team dedicated to enhancing the VA.gov platform. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design and development of user interface components, ensuring seamless integration with backend services and APIs. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including backend developers, project managers, and stakeholders, to deliver high-quality, impactful features on schedule. Your responsibilities will include participating in system planning, adhering to software standards, mentoring team members, and establishing best practices for frontend development. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to federal digital transformation initiatives, working remotely within the continental United States, and making a tangible difference in government service delivery.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in frontend development. Proven expertise in React and Redux is essential, along with strong analytical and investigative skills. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and have experience collaborating within development teams. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Scrum processes, and the full software development lifecycle is required. Knowledge of AWS cloud services, testing methodologies (unit and end-to-end), and proficiency with version control tools such as Jira, GitHub, and Confluence are also necessary. Given the remote nature of the position, candidates should have prior experience working remotely and be U.S. citizens or authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred qualifications include experience working with federal agencies, particularly VA or VA.gov platform, and familiarity with federal regulations and web hosting environments.

The Frontend Developer will be responsible for designing and developing user interface components using React.js and Redux, ensuring smooth integration with REST/SOAP APIs and web services. You will participate in system planning, development, and testing to ensure adherence to software standards and protocols. Overseeing frontend development efforts, creating user guidelines, and conducting system analysis to clarify program requirements are key aspects of your role. You will work collaboratively with developers to ensure successful project execution, maintaining high-quality deliverables while mentoring team members to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Establishing coding standards and best practices is essential to maintain excellence across projects. Additionally, you will gather user requirements, develop user stories, and plan project timelines, ensuring clear communication through comprehensive documentation. Leading integration testing, maintaining proactive stakeholder communication, and analyzing system requirements to optimize performance are vital responsibilities. You will also participate in code and sprint reviews, ensuring all deliverables meet project specifications and quality standards.
