Data Governance Consultant

We are seeking a Data Governance Consultant to help shape and drive our data governance strategy.

In this critical role, you will ensure that our data governance efforts align with business objectives and comply with necessary regulations. You will be instrumental in influencing senior leadership, developing governance frameworks, and promoting a culture of data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and drive the strategy and vision for enterprise-wide data governance in alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements
• Influence and partner with senior leadership to shape data-driven business strategies
• Implement data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices to maintain data quality, integrity, and security
• Set up governance councils and promote a culture of data ownership/stewardship by collaborating with business and technical leaders
• Design and maintain necessary data governance tools, workflows, and documentation
• Address and resolve data quality issues through quality monitoring and resolution processes
• Lead workshops to assess and enhance data governance maturity
• Ensure compliance with data privacy laws like GDPR and CCPA
• Train and guide teams across the organization on data governance practices
• Facilitate initiatives to improve data literacy and promote responsible data usage
• Support business analytics and initiatives involving AI/ML
• Mentor teams on improving data governance strategies

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data governance roles
• Strong knowledge of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices
• Experience in data quality management, metadata management and data lineage tools such as Collibra and Alation
• Understanding of data privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA and strategies for compliance
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
• Capability to translate complex data governance concepts into business-friendly language
• Product-thinking mindset and process-driven approach to problem-solving
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, at least at a B2 level

Nice to have

• Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
• Certifications in data governance, for example, DAMA CDMP
• Project management experience in agile methodologies
• Experience in managing people
