Senior AI / NLP / Machine Learning Expert

Location: Brussels, Belgium (near-site, 1 day per week onsite)

Contract Type: Long-term contract

Day Rate: €500

Overview

An opportunity for an experienced Senior AI / NLP / Machine Learning Expert to join a long-term programme delivering advanced AI-driven solutions. This role focuses on natural language processing, machine learning, and data-driven innovation within a complex, international environment.

Candidates must be based in Belgium and comfortable working in a hybrid setup.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain AI, NLP, and machine learning applications
• Build, train, and optimise machine learning and deep learning models
• Improve machine translation quality and performance
• Process, cleanse, and validate large and complex datasets
• Design and support scalable AI/ML architectures
• Collaborate with technical teams, stakeholders, and end users

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 10 years’ experience with Python and NLP/ML development
• Strong knowledge of libraries such as SpaCy, NLTK, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Hugging Face
• Experience with data processing, analytics, and large datasets
• Good understanding of microservices and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Desirable Skills

• Experience with vector search tools (e.g. Annoy, Qdrant)
• Knowledge of async frameworks (e.g. Tornado)
• Familiarity with data visualisation tools
• Relevant AI/ML certifications (AWS, Azure, or similar)
