Senior Cyber Security Engineer

Senior Cyber Security Engineer- Dublin Ireland ( Hybrid 3 days onsite Dublin City Centre)

My client is looking for an experienced Senior Cyber Security Engineer to play a key role in protecting and strengthening the organisation's IT environment on a Permanent Basis.

The Job:

• Monitoring, investigating, and responding to security alerts and incidents using SIEM, EDR/XDR, and Microsoft 365 security tools
• Performing root cause analysis and leading remediation activities to contain and resolve security incidents
• Managing and optimising Microsoft 365 security controls including Defender, Conditional Access, MFA, and Entra ID
• Continuously improving Microsoft Secure Score, compliance dashboards, and overall cloud security posture
• Tracking vulnerabilities, monitoring CVEs, and driving remediation through patching, configuration, or design changes
• Supporting system, server, and endpoint hardening across cloud and on-prem environments
• Assisting with patch compliance, security baselines, and configuration standards
• Operating within ITIL-aligned Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes
• Producing high-quality documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures
• Supporting governance, risk, and compliance activities including ISO27001 and GDPR
• Collaborating with network teams to secure firewalls, VPNs, proxies, and network traffic
• Investigating network-based security events such as abnormal traffic patterns or lateral movement
• Contributing to continual service improvement initiatives for cyber security operations

Have You:

• 5+ years' experience in cybersecurity engineering or operations
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 security, Azure, SIEM, EDR/XDR, and vulnerability management
• Solid understanding of identity, endpoint, and network security principles
• Experience working within ITIL-based operational environments
• Ability to automate tasks using PowerShell or similar scripting tools
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, Microsoft SC/AZ, or ITIL (highly desirable)
• A proactive, adaptable mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement
