Front End Engineer

DataHow AG is a spin-off company of ETH Zurich founded in 2017. Our mission is to bring Industry 4.0 to the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biopharmaceutical sectors. We develop and commercialise predictive software that integrates sensor signals, process models, machine learning, reinforcement learning, historical data, and process engineering knowledge. About the Role

You'll develop and maintain our web application using Vue 3 and TypeScript, with a strong emphasis on writing clean, maintainable, and well-structured code. You'll apply solid software engineering principles to ensure a robust and scalable codebase, working with modern tooling and a component-based architecture.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with backend engineers to integrate APIs, designing reusable components, implementing effective testing strategies, and building data visualization features that help scientists make sense of complex datasets.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement new features while working closely with the product owner, UI/UX team, and fellow developers
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate RESTful APIs
• Build reusable, well-typed Vue components following established patterns
• Write meaningful tests that ensure code reliability
• Develop and enhance data visualization features using charting libraries
• Contribute to maintaining code quality and consistency across the codebase

Qualifications

A strong university degree (minimum BSc or equivalent) in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in Vue.js (Composition API) and TypeScript, with strong typing skills
• Understanding of software engineering principles (SOLID, separation of concerns, clean code)
• Experience building component-based architectures with clear separation between UI, business logic, and data layers
• Solid experience working with RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with modern frontend tooling (Vite, ESLint, testing frameworks)
• Commitment to code quality, clear documentation, and knowledge sharing

Nice to Have

• Experience with data visualization libraries (Plotly, D3, or similar)
• Familiarity with TanStack Query or similar data-fetching patterns
• Experience with UI component libraries (PrimeVue, Vuetify, etc.)
• Background or interest in scientific/technical domains
