Akamai's Information Security team is responsible for safeguarding Akamai, its customers, and the Internet worldwide. Our penetration testing team is part of Product Security, the pillar of Information Security that provides security review, testing, and advisory services throughout the SDLC to Akamai's engineering teams.

As a participant in our program, you will gain valuable experience and contribute through meaningful project work. You will have the opportunity to join us for training, networking events, and engagements with company leadership. Our internships are open to students and graduates.

Penetration testers work with architects and product/engineering teams to improve the security of Akamai's products and services. Testers have latitude to explore research projects to better understand Akamai to improve security of our systems.

As an Intern, you will be responsible for-

• Developing, testing, and deploying penetration testing security tools based on project requirements
• Collaborating with team members to design and implement new security tools
• Participating and gaining insights in the penetration test assessment lifecycle
• Writing clean and efficient code under the guidance of team members
• Troubleshooting and debugging software issues as they arise
• Contributing to project documentation and technical specifications

To be successful in this role you will-

• Be pursuing a degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related fields
• Be familiar with Python programming language or other
• Have interest in security technologies, processes, and concepts such as cryptography, authentication and authorization, common vulnerabilities
• Be willing to try ideas and evaluate their effectiveness through hands-on experimentation
• Understand how the Internet and its networks and protocols (IP, DNS, HTTP, TCP or web architecture) work
• Be eager to know how and why things work, and how to improve them
  
  

Work in a way that works for you

The 6-month intern program requires you to be available 40 hours per week during summer months (July-September). We offer the opportunity to work part-time during the academic year (October-June).

This is a flexible role and may be performed at your home and/or the local Akamai office (in the country advertised). We are happy to discuss working options in this role and encourage you to speak with your recruiter in more details when you apply.
