Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Mid–Junior Backend Engineer with 2 years of experience to join our engineering team and help build, maintain, and improve scalable backend services. This role involves developing APIs, optimizing database queries, collaborating with the frontend team, and contributing to the overall system architecture.

Key Responsibilities

● Develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs

● Implement business logic related to tax, estate, and financial planning workflows

● Design and optimize MongoDB queries and aggregation pipelines

● Integrate AI-driven features and document processing workflows into backend services

● Support background jobs, workers, and asynchronous processing systems

● Debug and resolve production issues in a timely manner

● Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following best practices

● Collaborate with frontend, product, and data teams to deliver end-to-end features

Must-Haves

● 2+ years of backend development experience

● Strong knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript

● Solid understanding of RESTful API design

● Experience working with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases

● Experience writing clean, maintainable, and testable code

● Familiarity with Git and collaborative workflows (PRs, code reviews)

● Basic understanding of authentication and authorization concepts

● Comfortable debugging and troubleshooting production issues

● Ability to work in a team environment

Nice to Have

● Experience with NestJS framework

● Experience with microservices architecture

● Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines

● Experience with background jobs/queues

● Understanding of performance optimization and query tuning

● Exposure to system design principles

● Familiarity with Docker and containerized environments

● Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly

explain technical concepts to cross-functional teams
