C++ Software Engineer for Real-time Defence Systems | £50,000 - £55,000

The Role

  • Design and implement mission-critical software for real-time and near real-time applications using C/C++ and Java.
  • Develop and optimize code within a Linux-based ecosystem, ensuring seamless interaction between hardware and software subsystems.
  • Take full ownership of the software lifecycle, from translating complex operational requirements into code to executing rigorous unit tests and formal acceptance activity.
  • Participate in structured code reviews and produce high-quality technical documentation for advanced integrated systems.
  • Collaborate with technical stakeholders to solve complex engineering challenges involving networking, DSP, or GPU acceleration.

What You'll Need

  • A strong technical degree (minimum 2:1) in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related STEM discipline.
  • Minimum 2.5 years of professional experience developing production-grade software in C++.
  • Proven experience working within a Linux environment, with an understanding of low-level interfacing or real-time systems.
  • Solid grounding in software engineering best practices, including unit testing and structured version control.
  • UK National status with the absolute eligibility to undergo SC Security Clearance.
