About the Company


An organisation in the public sector is seeking a skilled Data Analyst with Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance to join their team on a contract basis.


About the Role


The successful candidate will lead data analysis activities that support business requirements, deliver critical insights, and ensure data quality across multiple projects. This role requires an experienced professional capable of bridging business and technical teams to deliver actionable analytic solutions and support informed decision‑making.


Responsibilities


  • Lead identification, assessment, and preparation of data sources aligned with business needs.
  • Analyse data availability, quality, constraints, and gaps between current assets and future analytic requirements.
  • Provide timely updates on progress, issues, risks, dependencies, and data quality impacts, contributing to project reporting.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops with business and technical stakeholders to gather and document analytical use cases, reporting needs, metrics, and decision criteria.
  • Profile, validate, and analyse data to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and data quality concerns, including completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Define and document analytical requirements and business logic such as KPIs, calculation rules, assumptions, filters, and aggregation levels.
  • Map analytical requirements to end‑to‑end data and reporting solutions, including source‑to‑target mappings, transformation rules, and alignment with business processes and technology platforms.
  • Develop exploratory and descriptive analytic outputs including dashboards, reports, visualisations, and summaries to support stakeholder decisions.
  • Support proof‑of‑concept and demonstration activities for analytics, reporting, or data products by preparing scenarios, sample data, and evaluation criteria.
  • Contribute to solution design documentation in collaboration with solution architects and assist with knowledge‑transfer activities.


Qualifications


  • Australian Citizenship with NV1 security clearance (mandatory).
  • Proven experience in data analysis, including profiling, validation, and quality assessment.
  • Strong skills in gathering and documenting analytical requirements and business logic.
  • Ability to align data requirements with business processes and technology platforms.
  • Experience creating dashboards, reports, visualisations, and analytical summaries.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, including facilitation of meetings and workshops.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with technical architects and contribute to solution documentation.

Preferred Skills


  • Experience working within public sector or law‑enforcement‑adjacent environments is advantageous.
  • Experience contributing to project reporting and project‑management activities.


Pay range and compensation package


Contract Duration: Approx. 6 months

Start Date: Around 13/04/2026

Location: Victoria (hybrid work arrangements possible)
