Staff Test Engineer · Hybrid (3 days in office)
Have you spent years getting into the details of 4G/5G RAN testing — not just running test cases, but genuinely understanding the protocols, the call flows, and the standards behind them? Can you explain exactly what you've built, how it worked, and why you made the decisions you did?
A pioneering Network company is building the world's first commercial, live direct-to-device satellite network — connecting smartphones and IoT devices directly over satellite, anywhere on the planet. They're looking for a Staff Test Engineer to own RAN testing for their NR-NTN products. This is a deep technical role at the frontier of satellite connectivity, and they need someone who can go well beyond black-box testing.
What you'll do
▸ Own end-to-end test planning — analyse requirements from customer and deployment engineers and convert them into thorough, in-depth test plans for NR-NTN base stations. ▸ Build and run test automation — implement automated test frameworks (Robot Framework, Python) to validate NTN-specific cases against internal algorithms and 3GPP standards. ▸ Go deep on protocols — understand 3GPP standards and system engineering documents well enough to design tests that actually find issues, not just confirm expected behaviour. ▸ Reproduce real-world scenarios — work from field deployment feedback to simulate and test edge cases in the lab. ▸ Drive quality end-to-end — log analysis, performance, capacity and soak testing, raising bugs and seeing them through to resolution with the dev team.
The company
This is a live, commercial satellite network already active on millions of devices across five continents with over 60 million square kilometres of coverage. Their NTN vRAN is a 3GPP standards-based, cloud-native base station and core — a genuinely novel piece of infrastructure. The team spans software, hardware, chipsets, telecom, satellite and network virtualisation. This is a once-in-a-career technical environment.
What they're looking for
✓ 6+ years of experience testing 4G/5G radio access wireless networking products — NR-NTN or NB-NTN network-side experience strongly preferred.
✓ Deep working knowledge of 4G/5G protocols — S1AP, air interface, EPC core, VoLTE/NR, handover and mobility testing. You can explain the protocols, not just the results.
✓ Hands-on experience with UE simulators such as Keysight or Amarisoft.
✓ Strong test automation background — Robot Framework, Python, or similar. Manual-only experience will not be sufficient for this role.
✓ Solid debugging and log analysis skills — you can dig into a failure and understand what actually went wrong.
✓ Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
What they offer
💰 €60,000 – €70,000 base salary + equity (stock options)
- Comprehensive benefits including health, life and dental insurance
- Monthly wellness and education allowance
- Commuting, phone and internet allowance
- Daily lunch allowance
- Generous L&D budget for personal and professional development
- Flexible time off and the opportunity to temporarily work abroad
- Hybrid working — 3 days per week in office in Espoo, Finland
